Open House Online was created by Liquid
6 Image Design, a small, Brighton-based web design
company that had previously specialised in individual
sites for local artists and small businesses.
We at Liquid 6 have always felt that the sheer scale
and quality of the arts on display in Open
Houses is something that often takes the new visitor
by surprise. We also felt it was about time that
a new resource was created to promote the talent and
effort of the artists who either exhibit
in or open their homes to the public.
The idea was to create a website that
would give visitors the kind of information that they
always asked for when they visited the open houses.
It would also provide them with something that was always
asked for but had never previously been available –
one map that showed all the
houses from all the groups. The logical extension of
this was to make the maps interactive
and free to download, thus providing the Open House
visitor with a single resource to
start them on their Open House journey.
Having decided to launch the site, we approached the
individual Open House trails where the mix of weekly
updated, free publicity (the artists and houses that
are featured on the site are not charged in any way)
and the visitor-friendly style of the site was greeted
with great enthusiasm and cooperation.
This is OHO’s first year and we are grateful to
the houses, trails and individuals who
have co-operated with us.
We hope that you find all that you want on the OHO website.
