The Photography
House is part of the Hanover Art Trail and has been
open for the past five years.
My name is Bill Brandt. I am a Brighton-based photographer
and own and manage the photography house.
Because of my background the house has always had a
strong bias towards photography but in the early years
I tried to exhibit a variety of different types of art:
paintings, sculptures, jewellery, furniture etc. in
an effort to make the exhibition as interesting to as
many different people as possible. However in 2004 I
decided to make it a photography-only venue with the
idea that it would focus on its ‘core business’
and become the leading venue for the photographic arts
within the Brighton open house community.
Generally I exhibit work from somewhere between 4 and
6 photographers at a time with the aim to have a good
mix of colour and monochrome, digital and traditional.
Each year there is a mix of established artists and
newcomers, many of whom have never exhibited before.
