The question I have been asked
most having made the decision to open my house during
the Festival is – Why?
In truth, two reasons:
1. Because I couldn’t find an open house to exhibit
in last year, and;
2. Because it’s an exciting thing to do.
For three years prior to last year I’d staged successful
exhibitions at Bill
Black’s house in Richmond Road. Because
his children have reached exam age, Bill doesn’t
open his house anymore – though he still exhibits
and will be showing here this year.
So, last year, without my regular home to go to, I began
applying to other houses in the area. Sadly, I was unsuccessful,
mostly because I had left it too late to apply and most
homes were full by January (Yes, January). However,
one of the open houses wrote back suggesting that maybe
I should open my own house. It was too late for that year
