We’ve had a number – well,
two to be exact – of emails asking why we haven’t
launched with any maps online. We are an independent company
and not affiliated to any open house trails or groups,
or the Brighton Festival Fringe. As a consequence, we
did not receive the house details for our maps until –
relatively speaking - quite late. However, we have them
all now and even as you read this several poor souls are
poring over street-level ordnance survey maps, making
interactive Flash pop-ups and working hard to ensure that
we deliver the only maps containing all the houses from
all the different places, Festival Fringe, AOH, etc.
We will have them online before April 25th, so be patient,
and that patience will be rewarded with the most detailed,
most comprehensive maps you can lay your hands on. Anywhere.
On another note, some people having been asking when we
update the site. Every Wednesday is the official day,
barring BT losing us our broadband service as they did
the day the site launched (though they deny it).
We’ve got some fun stuff and some interesting stuff
on the site for you this week.
Just take a look at the – non-existent – state
of Christina Ure’s kitchen in our Open House Virgin
section.
Celebrated local artist Fred Pipes makes some interesting
points about open houses and their place within the Brighton
festival as a whole in this week’s Weekly Article.
More forthright talk from our artist profiled this week,
Ron Cavedaschi, with some fascinating insights into how
artists view their own and others art.
Finally, Annabel Wilkes writes about opening her home
to the public for the first time along with some friends
and provides a thoughtful insight into why an artist would
choose to do this and what they hope to provide to visitors
in doing so.
