My name is Annabel Wilkes and I am opening my house for the first time in the Hanover area in Brighton. I have gathered a group of six artist friends and makers who will be exhibiting a variety of photographs, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and furniture. I will be exhibiting photographic silkscreen prints and collograph prints of which are taken from natural forms. I am exhibiting this work because it gives me pleasure to be surrounded by beautiful textures, colours and forms. I am also exhibiting it because I would like to see peoples’ reactions to it as pieces of work.
I have always wanted to open my house having visited other open houses during the festival in previous years. Specifically, I have always admired the friendly, artistic environment in the Hanover community. I moved here three years ago and now feel part of that community so have decided to participate and enjoy the experience of opening my house to others.
