At The Blue House the Main exhibitors are myself and
my brother Tom Heron. The original impetus for opening
our house was for various reasons. Firstly, having been
a practising artist for over 30 years, prior to teaching
at a local Secondary School, I felt the need to continue
to produce creative work of my own, especially as I
had the opportunity to develop my own ideas further,
rather than producing work that was often client 'driven'.
In the past two years I have been developing ideas based
on ethnic textiles, tribal costume and the decorative
arts and taking them into a somewhat new canvas-based
arena. I incorporate beadwork, shisha and elements of
recycling. Many of these new pieces have been inspired
by my husband's and self's travels to India and Africa.
I am happy to say that my husband, Colin, will also
be exhibiting for the first time this year rather than
being the backbone organiser that he's been in the past.
