As to the other benefits of showing our work in a home-based environment, I am sure that our incentives are much the same as others i.e.:
Offering an opportunity to all to see art in a non-gallery context. Many people feel intimidated by a gallery environment. There is not the same expectation and pressure that a sale is the ultimate objective.
Open Houses offer an insight into the artist's life as well as their work and helps put their modus operandi into context.
Visitors have the chance to talk to the Artists in a relaxed non-pressurised environment and feel happy to be able to bring their parents, children, prams, dogs etc. along.
Personally I have found the experience to date very rewarding and I hope to continue opening our door for many years to come!
