I
graduated in 1993 with a BA in Fine Art from the University
of Reading.
From there, I left the art world behind to work in publishing
for eight years, before once again returning to painting.
At university, I was one of only a few painters on the
course! I painted large abstracts, and was interested
in how different colours interact according to the scale
on the canvas.
I moved to Brighton to become a full-time artist in 2002.
This will be my third Open House.
My return to painting didn’t mean a return to abstract
art. I instead took up realism. This is in part due to
his eight year gap from painting, and my needing to start
afresh. I couldn’t pick up where I left off. Things
have moved on and I’m a different person. I wanted
to re-train and rediscover what makes me tick.
