Blind to the Beauty

Then came the stained glass. My epiphany was Coventry Cathedral with its windows filled with brilliantly coloured Dalle de Verre (glass chunks). From the first time I saw them, I loved all the colours I could see even if they were not necessarily the colours everyone else saw - but they were fantastic! So when it came to working with these beautiful glasses I came up against a problem I had not considered - how on earth do I get the colours ‘correct’ when making pieces?
Thankfully over the years I have become adept at either getting people to tell me what the colours are (without looking stupid) or, when necessary, charging in and saying “look, I know you are going to think I’m stupid, but I can’t tell what colour this is because I’m colour-blind”. This approach always works and I get far more help than I could ever ask for and usually a laugh along the way. So you might suppose the problems are over? No way.
