I
started taking photographs seriously six years ago. I
am still trying to work out what it is I’m attempting
to do. My preferred images are usually of unsettling perspectives,
sinister forebodings or pretty colours. While I clearly
feel the need to identify some distinct unifying perspective
in my work, it tends to remain inconsistent and heterogeneous.
Ah well.
I have been writing weird fiction for several years and
have had short stories published in Britain and America.
A collection, Undergrowth and Other Hidden Tales, three
stories about magic in modern England, was published by
Hollow Hills Publishing in 2003. One of these, ‘The
Pier’ (about the occult significance of Brighton’s
lost Chain Pier) was recently republished in Razorsmile
magazine.
I have designed book covers for
Invocations Press and Hollow Hills Publishing and
posters for the University of Santa Cruz, all incorporating
some of my photographs or collages.
