I live and paint (or should I say I paint to live)
in Toronto Canada. Each May I travel to the Brighton
Festival to exhibit with my sister Janette Heron-Middleton
and her husband Colin, at the Blue House, 56 Albion
Hill. It is a wonderful time to connect with family
and meet the many eclectic visitors, who in some cases
travel further than I to experience the wonder of the
Festival and its myriad Artists.
It is also a time to share the myth and magic of being
an Artist. This is not always the case when showing
one’s work. In many ways the making of Art creates
a performance that is frozen, only to be experienced
by the viewer at a later date, when the Artist is not
there.
I am one of those individuals who came to painting later
in life. Although sensing at some point the need to
be an Artist, I never felt I possessed the capability.
Thus, I tried many many jobs, from Theatre Electrics
to Commercial Photography, eventually becoming an Agent
for six Photographers by accident, always promoting
others artistic endeavours but not producing my own.
At age forty, fate intervened and my circumstances forced
me to make major life changes. What the hell, I finally
decided to become an Artist!
