We decided to be part of the Open House trails for
the first time in 2005, as this represented a good opportunity
to exhibit our work making it accessible to a wide range
of people, with the freedom to present the work in a
domestic home environment. An attractive walled garden
leads to an intimate exhibition showcasing three local
artists' work, Claudia Rivers Bland, Sue Haseltine and
Adam Gower.
As a group we felt that our work was complimentary to
each other and would create an exhibition which embraced
colour, form and shape. Part of the focus for two of
the artist’s work, Claudia and Sue, is printing
at Brighton Independent Printmaking, Sue also works
as a painter in her studio locally, whilst Adam Gower
creates ceramic ware at Kemp Town Ceramics, Brighton.
Claudia teaches Art and Design in London at a private
school to children from ages 8 - 18, whilst Sue Haseltine
works as a graphic designer and Adam as a gardener and
decorator.
