We have ten artists exhibiting in my home. I like to exhibit as wider range of art work as possible so to appeal to a larger audience. By doing this there is usually something for everyone. As I am a sculptor myself I am drawn to this medium, in particular Rodin, but at the same time I like to feel that I have a wider appreciation of all other art forms. Art Deco is a particular favourite, I have introduced some of its style into a few pieces of my own work.
I’d been sculpting for a few years with a few small exhibitions under my belt, but felt I needed a wider audience. I visited my own local group and liked what I saw. I could see that by opening my own house it would give me a window to the general public and the opportunity to sell, raise my profile and give me the chance to meet new people. Also, having the support of the group is essential - I would have found it difficult without our founder Karren Urben’s continued support.
I am pleased that I can give other artists the same opportunities as myself to exhibit and hopefully encourage them should they want to open their own homes having tried the experience in mine.
