EXCLUSIVE ARTICLE! Ned Hoskins writes for OHO about 25 years of Open Houses

If there was ever to be one person we could all point at and say 'Well, you started it!' then that person would have to be Ned Hoskins. Ned is widely recognised as being the first artist in Brighton to open his doors to the public to sell his own and other artists' work. He then went on to form what has become the oldest artists' group in Brighton, the Fiveways group.
The Fiveways group has acted as the template for all other artists' groups that followed.
In this article written especially for Open House Online, Ned talks about the circumstances that led him to open his house for the first time and how he perceives the changes over the past 25 years.

News from the offices!
Once again the clinking of champagne glasses obscured any serious work being done here at Liquid 6 Image Design.
Why were we taking to the bottle once more?
Because this week our website tipped over 30,000 pageloads, meaning that our pages have been looked at over 30,000 times by visitors wanting Open House information.
Given that we're barely a year old we're rather pleased at this momentous event, so you'll excuse us if we get back to the champers!
Nice nibbles we get here, too...

Evolution - Serena Sussex
In her final article, Brighton Artist of the year 2005, Serena Sussex, tells us about how she became involved with the 'Rolf On Art: Henry VIII project' televised last year on the BBC. Find out what Serena has to say about the challenge of painting a small section of a truly gigantic piece.

The Outsider Returns!
Can it really be nearly a year? It can and he's back on the trail of yet more open houses to single out with his pithy penmanship.
This year we're giving him routes based on specific types of art. Our new mapping system makes planning your visits this way possible for the first time and we thought 'who better than our man Shaun Thorpe' to try it out. Read what he has to say about his new challenge here.

Fred's Diary
If you've lived in Brighton long enough and been to enough of the main art events taking place in the city, then the chances are you've run into Fred Pipes.
A professional author and illustrator on art, Fred knows his stuff and with his enthusiastic and friendly manner is a natural at getting artists to talk about their work. His vast experience gives him a trusted perspective on the arts scene in Brighton & Hove and beyond and he doesn't shy away from controversial viewpoints. Should fit right in then!

Open House Virgin

Well, our Christina's in a right flap this week. One minute jewellers are pulling out of her house, the next minute they're back in when she's already arranged another jeweller to take her place.
Add to that the strress and strain of ordering last-minute postcards and even more last-minute prints and she's very much running to stay still. Then there's th garden to get ready, the outside loo to clear out and the thorny problem of baking three cakes a week when you're suppposed to be on a diet. There's no rest for the wicked, it seems. continue and previous articles

Church of the Annunciation, Hanover
We featured it very briefly on last year's website and have already featured an exhibiting artist in our Artist profiles section. However, the Church of The Annunciation in Hanover is one of our favourite venues because it is such a unique setting. That seems to inspire the artists who show there, too. Read more about it here.
