Open House Tours

Did you know that you can be taken round the open houses by a tour guide?
Not only will they introduce you to all the artists on the tour but they will be able to tell you all about the history of the Open House Movement.
This year the tours are being led by three people, Jo Moore, a Brighton-based Illustrator, Clare Nias, a professional artist and Jo Lamb, a local artist who will be leading the tour in Newhaven.
Find out more and book yourself on a tour by visiting the AOH site here. Listen to Jo Moore being interviewed by Fred Pipes in the podcast on the right.

Fred's Diary
Ever the party animal, Fred talks about the wonderful world of Private Views in this weeks article.
They're not just an excuse for wine and nibbles - those are just the fringe benefits - but a good way for the serious art buyer to get an advance look at the work of an artist they have bought from in the past or see the new artists in a house they have come to enjoy over the years.
There's more to it than meets the eye, however, as Fred explains here.

Children receive mixed reactions when they enter an Open House. They also see the open house phenomena through very different eyes.
Read what they have to say about their experiences here.

The Return of the Open House Virgin
A very busy first weekend has cheered our Christina up immensely.
The weather - heavy rain on the Saturday, bright, warm sunshine on the Sunday - didn't seem to affect the numbers one way or another. If you were trooping round the Open Houses on the former, we salute you! It really was a miserable day. She's also taken the majority of work from her house to fuel her exhibition at terre a terre restaurant.
