More champagne at the offices!

Once more we’ve been drinking ourselves into a stupor here at Liquid 6 Image Design as this weekend saw our
10,000th unique visitor
hit the website on the same day as our
34,000th page load.
Given that we’re just over a year old and are only ‘live and updated’ ten weeks of the year those are pretty good statistics.
It would seem that we were right when we thought that visitors want more from an arts website than just lists and maps and that if you provide it, they’ll keep coming back to you.
Thanks to all our visitors and contributors.
Now, back to work!

Fred's Diary
The idea that just because you're seeing work in a house and not in a Gallery, it's not professional work by professional artists is one of the greatest misconceptions about the Open Houses. It's art with a capital A-R-T and in this week's article, Fred nametags a few of the big names you can see exhibiting in this years
Open House Festival.

The Outsider

Back from Amsterdam, looking tanned and relaxed we gave him a map and eight specific houses to visit. Along the way he recommends a rather decent place to eat while visiting the Hanover & Kemptown Trails, too.

Marina Cobra
Since meeting her last year, Marina has been one of our favourite artists here at OHO. From her beautiful abstract patterns to her striking and poetic interpretations of modern superhero mythology she bridges the gap between graphic and fine art effortlessly. Treat yourself by visiting her home for an excellent exhibition of modern art at it's finest - full of ideas, style and beauty. continue and previous articles

The Return of the Open House Virgin
The house is busier, the cakes are selling well but it's proving a lot more stressful for Christina this year. She seems to have been cursed by a Jewellers Coven (!); struggles with artists not 'knowing' when they were supposed to be invigilating; and is perplexed that the setting up seems to take about four times longer than she thought it would.
As Christina can testify, it takes a lot of hard work to make something look easy...

Pocket Money Buyers
Following on from last weeks article our intrepid junior reporters venture into several more houses to comment on the art and the reception they get on their arrival. A younger perception of art is an interesting thing and often their more immediate reaction to an artists work ultimately proves more revealing.
It's also interesting to see the reaction to the prices charged for work through young eyes and this week they view and comment on work that costs just several pounds right through to work costing several thousands.

59a Springfield Road, Brighton

You're always assured a warm and friendly greeting at Angela McKay's popular open house.
Small but perfectly formed, the house has a lovely mix of the fun and the functional along with Angela's own delicate and stimulating paintings. It's a real oasis of calm in the midst of a sea of open houses and well worth seeking out.
