There are three other artists showing with Meridith: Katherine Lawrie, a jeweller; Ellen Bell, who makes exquisite work from paper, fashioning it into garment forms; and Amy Smith, a ceramicist.
Amy’s original hand-built objects use impressions taken from the pavement, highlighting surfaces that are often overlooked. Her work plays with the contrast between industrial cast iron surfaces and fine ceramics to be handled and used in our homes.
Although they are new objects, Amy’s pots carry the same imperfections as the cast iron originals; they bear unique marks of wear and tear from hundreds of years of passers-by.
