The elements that
shape my work are drawn from memories of long, hot summers
spent on my Grandma’s farm in Missouri – growing
up on the Great Plains , home of big skies, swaying fields
of corn and extreme weather. The different colours reflected
in the changing seasons remains a constant point of reference
in my work. Over the last twenty years, my primary influence
has been a contrasting landscape to my childhood; a granite
landscape, softened by the ever changing colour, shape and
movement of sea and sand on the small island of Jersey .
The 4th of July will be the start of the sixth year of
running my own workshop. My passion for clay has not waned
and my journey continues. I have begun to share my knowledge
by teaching a number of ceramics courses entitled ‘Strictly
Throwing’ at the College of Higher Education in Jersey
which is affiliated to the University of Plymouth.
