23rd
December:
On the route home
back through the Swartberg mountains we stopped and climbed
to a place where there was a ribbon of waterfall about
30 feet high which came down the side of the rocks and
into a deep pool. Kevin, Pete and I swam in the deep
rock pool which was very cold.
24th December:
Pete and I went to Plettenburg Bay, 60 miles from George.
We had an excellent, breathtaking walk around the Robberg
Island and saw seals and some dolphins swimming below the
cliffs. As we walked towards the other side of the island
we came upon a beautiful, isolated beach. I had a swim,
and spotted a wild tortoise.
We came home to a lovely Christmas
meal which Kevin and Alison had cooked for us. In South
Africa, the main Christmas meal is eaten on Christmas
Eve so that no one has to cook on Christmas day.
