This is the first
year I will be opening my own Open House in the Brighton
Festival. I have been painting and photographing for many
years and last year retired from teaching full time. I was
determined to exhibit my work in the festival and was told
that I should initially open my own house as an independent,
before approaching other artists’ groups, so that I
could prove that I was serious. There is a lot more to be
considered than I had assumed. Finding a good Giclee printer
was one of the first tasks. Choosing the right festival brochure
to advertise in was another. Doing all this as an independent
house certainly tests your commitment.
