Holly’s interests and fascinations lie at the heart of her painting. She takes her inspiration from ancient myth, ritual and magic and has studied the psychoanalytical meaning behind many fairy tales and looked at their place within society.

Her powerful contemporary style conveys her passion and originality. Layer upon layer of acrylic paint and mixed media (which includes collage, ink, gold leaf, muslin and found items) are built up over time. This is a therapeutic process for Holly who feels it is akin to meditation in some ways.

Her Goddess pictures have an almost hypnotic effect and are very calming, rich with vibrant texture and layers. The eyes are beautifully painted and full of life with large swirling eyelashes that suggest humour. The paint is dripped on and often the idiosyncrasies that occur add to the personality of each Goddess.

Holly often works closely with clients for special commissions; she has had over 20 commissions over the past 12 months and currently has a waiting list of about 4 months.
