Original printmaking
can be a collaborative process between the artist and the
printmaker. The artist draws their image on a series of transparent
films or ‘separations’. The printmaker then works
with the artist to build up the colours and textures on the
screens to produce the final image. Artizan will only create
a maximum of 90 prints in each ‘edition’. Once
the edition is sold out, it can never be printed again
as the ‘separations’ are destroyed. This uniqueness
means that the value of each print can rise dramatically.
Sally Gimson, and her team at Artizan Editions continue
to collaborate with artists to produce hand crafted, original
prints in an art world which relies increasingly on signed
reproductions.'I feel it is important for people to
discriminate between their options and to make an informed
choice when buying art,' said Sally.
