I run hell-for-leather to my final destination, Ooh la la-Work made in France. This is the home of one of the more experienced open house proprietors, Harvey Daniels. His work is of a very high standard, taking in plenty of cues and styles and making them all his own. I liked it immensely and thought of splashing out on some myself until I saw the price list. An average price is £3,000, with the highest being an eye-watering £18,000. That said, the aforementioned price is for a painting about the size of your wall and like I said, the quality is astounding.

But, if you were paying attention, I said last week that the open houses should be for everyone, not just those with wallets bigger than their fists. So why don’t I have a problem with Harvey Daniels’ prices?

Harvey Daniels is a professional. He paints high quality paintings, and has exhibited in several major galleries during his time. That, there is the gist. He does not solely exhibit in the festival; the festival just gives his art a showing to a much larger audience and that is one of the major pluses of the Open House movement as a whole.

Mr. Daniels should keep on ploughing his unique furrow, as he is a fine example of the artistic community.

And, if I meet him again, I need to find out where he got his fabulous glasses. See you around. The professional Outsider is back this week.

We ran up to catch the next Open House before it closed which was ooh-la-la work made in France by Harvey Daniels. When he saw my pen and note pad he asked me if I was doing a project so I said yes and he went and got me a little information booklet all about him and because it was raining put it in an envelope. His work is just as nice and he does very intricate drawings of lines entwining and uses very bright colours. However they were at a gallery price but it was ovious he was used to being in galleries showing his marvellous work.
