Return of the Open House Virgin

Saturday started off okay but I am constantly amazed at how much junk can accumulate in only one week.
I spent two hours tidying the house and re-setting the artworks and was 10 minutes away from opening the house when the doorbell rang. The lady from Strawberry Fish Gallery had chosen that moment to return some unsold work! I took it with my usual ease (only swearing under my breath a few dozen times) but did have the good sense to get her to have a look at the new work I an exhibiting. She’s offered to take some of my prints and postcards to the Gallery after the end of the festival….result!

So, there I am, two minutes to opening and no invigilating jeweller as expected. What is it with me - I think I’m under the ‘curse of the errant jeweller’. Anyway at 11.15 I get a phone call; Clare is lost and wandering around the neighbourhood. Clare Rosso is a selling star. She is the ideal invigilator; pleasant, relaxed and informative, something that can’t be said about all the invigilators this weekend.

Sunday wasn’t good, instead of Anna Chocola turning up to invigilate, she sent her boyfriend, Thomas. He’s a very nice chap but not the best at putting the punters a ease - some people have it, some don’t. I put him in the kitchen doing coffee and cake and the poor man was mobbed - I predict he’ll never volunteer again!
